Day 1 - Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi 2200 hours on American Airline / Continental.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 - In Delhi
Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi.
City tour of Old Delhi includes Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque, Chandni Chowk market, Raj Ghat and drive past Feroz Shah Kotla.
A New Delhi tour includes Qutab Minar, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, Lakshmi Narayan Temple and a drive past the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Secretariat, Diplomatic Enclave, Janter Manter and Connaught Place.
Day 3 - To Neemarana
Morning you will proceed on a drive to Neemrana (3 Hrs).
Neemrana-Fort-Palace the beautifully restored 16th century Fort - off the highway, is an astounding piece of work in recent restoration, with each room being given its own character & beauty. It is situated on a majestic plateau of the Aravalli ranges, and is Rajasthan's closest Palace to the capital city of Delhi. The fort overlooks the beautiful semi-desertic plains. Day 4 - To Jaipur
After breakfast drive to Jaipur approx 2 hrs.
Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan and owes its name, planning and foundation to the Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727, Jai Singh decided to move from his hillside fortress at Amber to the plains, and thus Jaipur was conceived. It is also know as the "Pink City", derived from the pink painted sandstone from which the buildings in the old walled city are constructed
Day 5 - In Jaipur
Morning proceed for sightseeing tour of Amber fort and afternoon sightseeing tour of Jaipur city.
Seven miles outside the city in the rugged hills that surround Jaipur is the magnificent Amber Fort. A painted elephant will take you up to the fort through its huge gateways and pillared pavilions. This Rajput Fortress/Palace was constructed from 1592 by Raja Man Singh II, and is a superb example of Rajput architecture.
A city tour takes you through the bazaars to the City Palace complex which includes the Hawa Mahal, Palace of the Winds, built in 1799. The five-story building looks out over the main street and were originally for the ladies of the royal household to watch life and processions of the city. Jai Singh built the Jantar Mantar Observatory, still equipped with the ancient instruments including a very accurate 90-foot sundial, in 1728
Day 6 - To Agra
Early morning drive to Agra visiting Fatehpur Sikri enroute approx 6 Hrs.
In 1596 Akbar built Fatehpur Sikri, 37 kms away from Agra, in honour of Saint Salim Chisti who had prophesied the birth of his son Jehangir. He moved his capital there but abandoned it 14 years later, due to the water supply going bad. Lying on a rocky ridge two miles long and one mile wide it is an epic poem in red sandstone with impressive public halls, private residences, fortifications, massive gateway, pavilions and palaces.
It was during the Mughal era that Agra first gained prominence, during the 16th and 17th centuries when it served as their capital. The Moghul passion for building endowed Agra with some of the loveliest buildings in the world.
Afternoon visit to Agra Fort and evening visit to Taj Mahal
The massive Agra Fort was started by Akbar in 1565, and was added to over the years. Initially it was a military structure, with 2.5 Km long, 20 metre high double walls protecting its inhabitants. By Shah Jahan's reign it had partially become a palace. This rusty red sandstone fort stands like a crescent on the bank of Yamuna River. It is one of the finest forts in India and is a silent witness to the rise and fall of the imperial Mughal Empire. Visit its numerous palaces, pavilions and buildings that echo the story of Mughal Empire.
Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal between 1630-1653 as a memorial in white marble to his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the greatest love stories ever written with white marble and precious stones. Perhaps the most perfect architectural monument in the world.
Day 7 - To Khajuraho via Orcha
Transfer to Agra railway station for train 2002 Bhopal Shatabdi to Jhansi, departing at 0817 hours and arriving at 1043 hours.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to Orcha a journey of about an hour.
Arrive to the village of Orcha which was once a capital of the region, here an old fort on an island in the river contains several exquisite palaces.
Continue to Khajuraho - world famous for its magnificent temples built by the rich and powerful Chandela emperors. The temples present the best examples of Indian art and architecture.
Day 8 - In Khajuraho
Visit the temples where forthright sculptures celebrate the joy of life and love for which there is no equivalent in the world.
Day 9 - To Varanasi
After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight 9W 724 to Varanasi, departing at 1330 hours and arriving at 1410 hours.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
En route to city visit Sarnath where the Buddha first preached his message of enlightenment 25 centuries ago. Here you will find Chinese and Buddhist temples.
Varanasi - considered being the holiest Hindu city in India and one of the oldest surviving cities in the world. Situated on the bank of River Ganges, it has been centre of learning for over 2000 years. The old age names of this city has been Benaras and Kashi, but its present name is a restoration of an ancient name meaning the city between two rivers, Varauana and Asi
Day 10 - To Kathmandu
Early morning boatride to see the sunrise over the Ganges and to see the rituals that take place along the ghats (waterside steps).
Return to hotel for breakfast.
Followed by a city tour of Benaras visiting oldest Hindu university & Kali temple.
After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight IC 751 to Varanasi, departing at 1220 hours and arriving at 1320 hours.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Kathmandu City: Known as Kantipur, the capital of the Kingdom of Nepal. Here you will visit the temple of the Living Goddess, who acknowledges the greetings of the devotees from the balcony of her temple residence. Kasthamandap – the source of the name Kathmandu and supposed to be made from the timber of a single tree and the Durbar Square ate with it's array of temples overlooked by the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the ancient place of the Nepalese Royalty.
Day 11 - In Kathmandu
Swayambhunath : Located approximately 4 km/2.5 miles, Buddhist stupa this is said to be 2000 years old. The stupa, which forms the main structure, is composed of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth supporting a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt. Painted on the four-sided base of the spire are the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. This hill is a mosaic of small Chaityas and Pagoda temples.
Afternoon visit Patan - 20 kms from Kathmandu - the city with thousands of golden rooftops where they made the film "Little Buddha". An important ancient city of Kathmandu valley, it is a treasure house of venerable and picturesque buildings. This ancient city of Patan is situated on the southern bank of the river Bagmati. The city is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments with bronze gateways, guardian deities and wonderful carvings noted for their craftsmenship and metal work. It is known as the city of artists
Day 12 - In Kathmandu
Pashupatinath: Situated 5 kilometers east of Kathmandu city, this temple is one of the holiest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated amidst a lush green natural setting on the bank of the sacred Bagmati River, built in pagoda style has gilted roof and richly carved silver doors. Visitors will be permitted to view the temple from the east bank of River Bagmati, entrance in the temple being strictly forbidden to all non-Hindus. It is the centre of annual pilgrimage on the day of Shivaratri. Behind the temples are the cremation grounds.
Excursion to Bhadgaon (14 kilometres east of Kathmandu) - home of medieval art and architecture, also known as Bhaktapur. It is situated at an altitude of 1401 m. Shaped like a conch-shell. Bhaktapur name means the city of devotees. Pottery & weaving are its traditional industries.
Thereafter drive to Nyatapole temple, which is one of the most beautiful Pagoda style temples of the world.
Day 13 - To Delhi
After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight 9W 261 to Kathmandu, departing at 1415 hours and arriving at 1545 hours.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Day 14 - Depart Delhi
Departure transfer to Delhi International airport for flight to Home.
